Veritas Centre Opening

29 November 2019 | General Interest

On Friday 22nd November the Veritas Centre, our new hall and associated learning spaces, was officially opened by Senator Perin Davey, Senator for NSW and blessed by Father Andrew Doohan, Vicar General for the Diocese of Maitland Newcastle.

The name Veritas Centre was chosen to recognise and celebrate our Catholic faith and to honour our Dominican heritage. The opening was an occasion of great pride for San Clemente as it brought together dignitaries from federal and state governments as well as representatives from the Diocese and Catholic Schools Office. A gathering such as this shines a light on the importance of families in our community having access to the choice of Catholic education for their child’s learning.

The ceremony was opened with a very moving acknowledgment of country which included our Aboriginal student dance group who set the scene for this very important occasion. Musicians and singers from Years 7 to 10 both entertained and enriched the liturgical aspect of the ceremony and the blessing. San Clemente is very fortunate to be able to offer the wonderful facility that is the Veritas Centre is, to students and their families.

Wise and Loving God,

Hear the prayer of our community

as we bless the Veritas Centre,

Named in honour of St Dominic.

May those who gather, celebrate and learn

within the walls of this building,

Share in the abundance of your blessing:

May they listen to your  Word echoing in the Church of the world,

May they preach the word of Truth through their lives,

May they follow your way of truth and life,

And place Jesus in the heart of everything.

May all who come here

Know the presence of Christ,

experience and share joy in his friendship

grow in his love

and strive to preach the Gospel.
