Sr Patricia, was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her service to education, particularly for deaf and hearing-impaired students.

Sr Patricia trained as a teacher and early in her ministry began working in deaf education. As well as teaching in schools for the deaf in Victoria and New South Wales, Sr Patricia was Principal of the Hearing Impaired Centre Waratah and Director of the Catholic Centre for Hearing Impaired children – early intervention program in Strathfield, Sydney. From 2003 Sr Patricia has been an Itinerant teacher of the deaf. She currently teaches deaf children at five Sydney Catholic schools.

In September 2018, Sr Patricia received an award from Catholic Education Office Sydney for over thirty years of service to Catholic Education, specifically deaf education.

During her 44 years in education, Sr Patricia has seen numerous changes in the teaching of deaf children. She hopes the OAM she has been awarded, will bring more attention to the needs of the deaf and speech-impaired children.
